Inspired by the sand and stone garden at the Portland Japanese Garden, In Quiet Company considers the relationship between objects sharing the same quiet space.
The stones sit together without urgency or movement, surrounded by carefully shaped patterns in the sand. I was drawn to the sense of companionship within that stillness—the feeling that something does not have to speak, move, or demand attention in order to be present.
