Perception (Original)
Perception (2025)
Oil and mixed media on canvas
24 × 24 in.
Built up with acrylic, sculpted with fiber paste, and refined with oil, Perception invites viewers to slow down and look closer.
This piece is a layered reflection on queer identity and self-awareness. Through the abstraction of an eye, I explore what it means to be seen—how we navigate visibility, how perception shapes identity, and how inner truth meets external expectation.
The textured surface echoes this emotional complexity, with fiber paste and acrylic forming a raw foundation, then softened and sharpened with oil. The vertical strip acts as a threshold—a visual metaphor for the fragmented journey between the private self and public expression.
This work is both personal and open-ended. It’s an invitation: to examine how we see, how we’re seen, and how we choose to reveal ourselves to the world.
Why collectors should own this piece:
“Perception” is more than a visual work—it’s an emotional focal point for any space. With its textured surface and symbolic power, this painting sparks conversation and contemplation. It’s ideal for collectors who seek artwork with depth, presence, and lasting meaning. As part of the Proud+ 2025 exhibition, this piece also carries curatorial recognition, making it a strong addition to any serious or emerging contemporary art collection.
